Friday 13th July
We’re really pleased to be welcoming Babs Behan to Potager to run a bundle dyeing workshop with local plants, flowers and food waste.
For more information and to book a place, visit Babs’s website
Using local plants and flowers, some harvested from the garden, and food waste from the kitchen, to create beauteous bundle dyed silks to make into your own botanically printed scarf, using a very special organic British-grown silk. Followed by a delicious local, seasonal lunch in the cafe.
Bundle dyeing is a simple yet innovative process which by-passes the need for the dye pot, allowing for the direct transfer of plant dyes and their herbal qualities into cloth.
This workshop will cover the process of bundle dyeing using a couple of different folding techniques to create different patterns. Information about selecting ecological fibres and preparing them for dyeing, plus finishing instructions will also be provided.
The workshop will run 10am – 1pm and be followed by a group lunch in the cafe until about 2pm or until we are ready to leave. The cafe is open until 5pm and lunch is served until 3pm.
