We’re open again from Thursday 2nd February – and we’ve been busy in the garden over the winter.
Some of it you won’t notice – we’ve installed lots of new drainage to help cope with the sort of heavy rain that flooded the café last September – fingers crossed!
We’re developing a new woodland garden and have re-seeded the orchard, and have started shifting 10 tons of horse manure to the vegetable garden (volunteer day is Friday if you’re handy with a barrow!).
In the photo, Gary and Dion are wrestling with the roots of a conifer we’ve just felled – another example of original ‘High Cross Nurseries’ stock, taken root through its pot. Spared in the early years, it had started to create too much shade and had to go…
In coming weeks there’s more landscaping to do outside the café, vegetable seeds to sow and new compost bins to build as the garden starts to come to life. We look forward to seeing you soon!
