I developed Colour Workshops while working as a tutor on the Fine Art and Illustration and Textile courses at Falmouth University a number of years ago. I felt that an understanding of the principal contrast effects in the world of colour was extremely useful information to have and it also became a fascination for me with my own painting.
Over the years I have developed a number of projects to enable students to develop an awareness of these qualities of colour contrast. My understanding is based on the principles of Colour Contrast from the book, Design and Form, by Johannes Itten, The Basic Course at the Bauhaus, first published in 1963.
Some results pictured above from Day 2. As you can see, the work is all done at a small scale. Some experience with mixing and applying paint is helpful. I hope this will be not only a challenging but also an enjoyable experience. I love doing this workshop!
All materials will be provided. Please bring a packed lunch.
