Hand building pottery workshop: make a tea cup / coffee set using hand building techniques.

Join resident potter Aimee Jewitt-Harris for a day of hand building with stoneware clay.

The aim of the session is to create a set of mugs, milk jug and sugar bowl using traditional hand building techniques: pinch pottery and slab building. Your pieces will then be bisque fired and glazed* by Aimee after the workshop. During the workshop we will explore functionality, play with form, and experiment with decorative carving techniques. Whilst the aim is to create a set of functional pieces, this workshop is an opportunity for you to play. There is no limit on how many pieces you can make.

You will be able to choose your glazes at the time of building, based on the glazes that Aimee uses (transparent, natural greens and subtle blues). If you would rather make pieces which are unglazed, that’s fine too!

You can collect your pieces from Potager once they have been fired and glazed. It will take roughly 8 weeks (the clay takes a while to fully dry out!). Aimee will contact you all to let you know when you can pick up your pieces. Whilst the utmost care will be taken in the firing, please understand that accidents can happen (sometimes the firing Gods are not so kind) so some pieces may not survive the firing in the way that you’d like. Refunds will not be given for broken/damaged pieces.
