The Sciathog is a traditional shallow Irish frame basket originally used for sieving cooked potatoes. Today this beautiful basket would work well serving food as a platter or as a fruit bowl on your table.

In this one day workshop, we will be making a small version of this basket. This will involve making a double hooped rim and a long scallomed centre rib to fit. We will pay special attention to selecting willow, using natural colours, placing ribs symmetrically and the subtle use of packing weave.

This course is suitable for beginners and improvers.

You’re welcome to order lunch in the café, or to bring a packed lunch.

Lin Lovekin is a basketmaker living and working in West Cornwall.
